The beautiful Jacques Cartier Provincial Park

Jacques Cartier Provincial Park in Prince Edward Island, Canada is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular parks that eastern Canada sports. The first European visitor, after whose name the park has been named, Jacques Cartier, came ashore around the vicinity of the park and remarked it to be “the fairest land”. Indeed, the park offers one of the most naturally amazing spectacles in the whole world.

Though, it is not very well known outside Montreal, it is very easily accessible from Montreal, also known as Quebec City. The main sector of the park sees the Jacques Cartier River cutting through the valley, which is surrounded by steep mountains about 500 m tall. The resulting view, as you can imagine is magnificent.

Jacques Cartier Provincial Park is full of outdoor activities. From biking to hiking, you will be able to enjoy all types of adventure sports in this hilly locale. Mountain biking is another important sport, but essentially meant for professional or practiced mountain bikers. Other sports include backpacking, kayaking, snow shoeing and cross country skiing.

The park remains open throughout the year. There are several sectors in it that can be accessed through different points. The main entrance lies to the south of the provincial park. It is named as Secteur de la Valle. The other entrance lies to the north of the park. However, the main entrance provides all the activities and facilities offered by the park. It is the home to over 200 species of uncommon birds and many animals. Do not forget your camera by any chance, or you will spoil the whole tour.
